Governor Brewer Announces New Stimulus Reporting System
Governor's Office of Economic Recovery Preparing for October 10 Reporting Deadline
Governor Jan Brewer today announced the State of Arizona has selected Microsoft Stimulus360 as its reporting solution to comply with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The Act, signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009, requires each recipient that receives recovery funds from a Federal agency to submit a report to the corresponding agency on a quarterly basis.
The ARRA places significant new requirements upon state and local officials to comply with guidelines for receiving, dispersing and accounting for funds. Existing state systems are not able to handle these additional requirements, therefore facilitating the need for a comprehensive reporting and tracking system.
"I want to thank the team who dedicated many hours to choosing the solution it felt would best fit the needs of the State of Arizona to comply with the detailed requirements of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act," stated Governor Jan Brewer. "With this implementation, we are well on our way to complying with the first reporting deadline of October 10 and providing the transparency the Act requires."
The transparency and oversight requirements of the Act are many and include the following: 1) the total amount of recovery funds received from the agency; 2) the amount of recovery funds received that were expended or obligated to projects or activities; 3) a detailed list of all projects or activities for which recovery funds were expended or obligated, including an estimate of the number of jobs created and retained; and 4) detailed information on any subcontracts or subgrants awarded by the recipient. Reports must be submitted by recipients 10 days after the end of each calendar quarter.
Microsoft Stimulus360 will be utilized to aggregate the recovery fund reporting and fulfill the requirements of the Act regarding transparency and accountability.
The Office of Economic Recovery was established by Governor Brewer to implement and oversee all state ARRA funding and reporting requirements.
